No-Contest Divorce
If the parties are in agreement and are able to resolve
their differences, an agreement can be prepared and
signed by the parties. The agreement is then filed with
the clerk's office and signed by the judge (if the judge
approves it; they usually do). It usually takes about 30
days to get the signed judgment of divorce back from
the clerk's office.
The advantages of a no-contest divorce are that they
cost less and are over faster and are generally less
trouble. However, there are numerous situations were
it is in your interest to contest the issues. Remember
every situation is different.
